Veteran Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) news anchor, Earl Cameron was an announcer trained in the formal British tradition. He had an authoritative, calm voice, and when reading the news he avoided emotion and the temptation to editorialize. It is said that once, while reading a radio newscast, the studio went dark as the lights failed. Unperturbed, Cameron flipped open a cigarette lighter and continued reading the news, barely skipping a beat. Style:
